Two Feng Shui Strategies to Deal with Crises (Have a Drink with Me)

The other day, I woke up to find out that there was a problem with water in our kitchen. It was a crisis.

Whenever something happens in the home related to water, you have to move fast, because water damage spreads quickly and it can be very expensive.

It is no coincidence that in Feng Shui water in the home represents money!

Rule Out Potential Large Problems

The first thing to do was to rule out broken pipes. I did that within a couple of minutes. It was a great relief to discover there was no problem with the pipes, and then even more relief when I ascertained that there were no leaks under the sink or problems in the water lines.

The Rise of Negative Emotions

But right after the relief, I was hit with a wave of negative emotions.

  • Why was this happening?
  • Did I do something wrong?
  • Was this my fault?

My personal tendency is to freak out when I first face problems or challenges. If you read my book Room by Room, you probably understand why.

I grew up in an environment where accusations and finger pointing were the first reactions to crises.

Two Feng Shui Strategies to Deal with Crises (Have a Drink with Me!)

As an adult, I have developed Feng-Shui based strategies to keep myself calm when facing challenges, and keep things in perspective. I shared what I do in this video I recorded the evening of the day when the faucet problem arose. To be honest with you, by evening, I felt I needed a drink, and this almost never happens to me! That’s how “bad” the day was.

These techniques work for me and for many of my students and clients. Watch the video below:

Share with Me: How Do You Deal with Crises?

Many people go into fight, flight or freeze mode when faced with crises. When this happens it is easy for the Inner Child to get scared.

How you deal with problems is closely connected with the way you grew up and how adults around you reacted to problems or challenges.

How did adults react when there was a problem, when you were a child?

Did they blame each other? Did they blame you? Or did they address problems reasonably?

The purpose of Feng Shui is to help you live a happy, balanced life.

Problems are a part of life. For as long as you are alive, you will face problems. You need to have strategies to address them in ways that do not create more stress for you or for those around you.

The Nine Steps to Feng Shui® System is a method I developed to help you achieve a happy life in a home you love.
