Family Photos Are Full of Memories
Family photos are filled with memories. It’s impossible to look at photos from your childhood and not be transported back to those moments. And when you see pictures of your children when they were little, it can evoke tender emotions. Family photos are items that carry a lot of emotions.
Because photos are so charged with emotions, where you place them in your home is important. What kind of emotions do you want to experience in each room of your home?
For example, in the dining room, you may want to feel calm but also energized. In the family room, you want to create a cozy and lively atmosphere. In the primary bedroom, you want to feel a sense of romance and safety.
Arranging family photos for good Feng Shui is tricky, because the same photo can be an asset in one room but a problem in another room!
The Same Photo May Be an Asset or a Liability!
The photo can be either good or bad, depending on where it is. If you put happy photos of your family trips in the dining room, it will make you feel happy and energized. But if you put the same photos in the main bedroom, you may find yourself thinking about the kids when you should be thinking about sleeping or romance.
A romantic photo of you and your spouse will be a great addition to your bedroom, but it wouldn’t make sense in your child’s bedroom. Locations matter.
Some Dos and Don’ts of Family Photos
- Do hang family photos in hallways and the shared areas of the home.
- Don’t hang family photos in the primary bedroom.
- Do choose photos that your whole family likes.
- Don’t use photos where any single family member doesn’t look good.
- Do hang at least one family photo that includes everyone in your nuclear family
Setting Boundaries
How you select and display pictures of your immediate family — and the position of these photos in relation to pictures of your relatives — can impact the quality of your relationships. Having photos of your in-laws in inappropriate locations can lead to significant problems!
The 3 Superpowers of Your Home
There are hundreds of other Feng Shui issues, like the one we explored above, that may be found in a home. They all can create negative effects in you and the members of your family. This can feel overwhelming. However, if you are able to group all Feng Shui problems into 3 main categories:
- Problems around safety.
- Problems that trigger conflicts.
- Problems that keep you stuck and hold you back.
Then it all becomes easier, because you are able to activate:
- Feelings of safety, security and confidence.
- Greater harmony, so everyone gets along.
- Clear focus, healthy goals and empowerment.
