In the West, the meaning of the door is opportunities.
In every single culture in our Western world, you’re going to see some saying that has to do with doors and opportunities.
For example, in English, we say when one door closes, another one opens, or when one door closes, a window opens. In Spanish, we say when one door closes, a hundred other doors open.
So, there’s this association with doors as opportunities, doors as thresholds, going from one situation to another, one state of being to a new, different, and hopefully improved state of being.
The Feng Shui meaning of a door goes a little bit deeper.
The Feng Shui Meaning of a Door

While in western language, doors are related to opportunities, the Feng Shui or eastern concept or understanding of a door is a little bit different. Doors are boundaries.
For example, there’s a different energy on the outside of a home compared to the inside of a home.
There’s a different energy in a primary bedroom than there is in the bathroom attached to that primary bedroom. That’s why you need a door. And so many homes today don’t have that division, that separation between the primary bedroom and the bathroom. But they’re necessary.
Locks on Doors
Now, a door also has locks, right? And a door allows you to decide who can come in. Only the person that has the key can come into your home.
You are able to lock the doors in your home so that at certain times you may allow people in or not.
Boundaries and Doors are Connected
Boundaries are connected to doors. And you are coming to a door moment in your life where you can say my life before Feng Shui and my life after Feng Shui!
