When our two sons were little, we always made bread at home. But as they grew into young men, we couldn’t keep up, so we started buying it at the store. Now that our youngest has left home, I’ve stopped buying bread, with the intention of replacing it with homemade bread.

Late Night Flatbread
The other night, I stayed up late to make some flatbread. In the morning, when I went to have a small piece with a little cheese for breakfast, it was gone. My husband had eaten it — all of it — with his breakfast.
I was furious! He apologized immediately and profusely. Later on he confessed it was so delicious he couldn’t think, and just told himself I must have left it for him.
Even though I accepted his apology, I couldn’t even talk to him until lunch. It wasn’t until nighttime that we were back to normal, and were able to laugh about the incident. That’s how it is sometimes.
Forgiveness Doesn’t Erase the Impact
Just because someone apologizes, and you forgive them, that doesn’t mean that the damage they caused is magically undone. It takes time for a person to process their thoughts and emotions after they feel they have been betrayed in any way. Even small betrayals can leave a mark — like finding out that a loaf of bread you expected to enjoy with your husband throughout the day didn’t make it past his breakfast.
The Home Remembers, Too
Something similar may happen when you start the Feng Shui process of your home, especially if you have been neglecting your home for a long time. If you have been unable to take proper care of your home, even if you had very valid reasons like financial constraints, illness or lack of energy, your home won’t forgive you right away. There will be some lingering resentment for the neglect or for any abuse you have inflicted on your home.
Treat Your Home Nicely
When you mistreat your home, you essentially mistreat your life. Every action you take regarding your living space reflects back on you, impacting your well-being. This principle holds true for both positive and negative actions.
Your place wants to be clean, organized, and tidy. It yearns to showcase beauty and harmony, seeking recognition and praise.
Feng Shui Takes Time
As you start the Feng Shui process, it will take time for your home to start trusting you again.
People don’t get used to bad Feng Shui, they become numb to it. Like waking up a numb limb — you don’t notice the pain until things start to move again.
But after the initial discomfort you’ll start reaping the benefits. The more harmony and balance you add to your home, the better you will feel and the more your life will flow. Things will get easier, because you will be luckier.
